Priorities
My Core Priorities are:
1) People: the quality services, infrastructure and support you and your community need.
2) Seeking value for our rates dollar - is council’s spending focus on the things that are important to you in your neighbourhood?
3) Support for local businesses and employment - what more can council be doing to help local business thrive?
4) Green Wedge Management – A sustainable Green Wedge that values the contribution of landholders (small and large); a balanced approach to preserving and enjoying our environment that is conscious of community concerns regarding bushfire safety.
WITH YOUR SUPPORT I WILL:
- Provide value for our rates dollar while delivering critical, efficient and professional services
- Redress the apparent funding imbalance in our shire to see greater investment in our rural wards - the services and facilities residents need in our outer areas including North Warrandyte, Research and St Andrews
- Work with and support local businesses to grow and succeed, especially local jobs and tourism
- Ensure a sustainable Green Wedge, sensibly managed through supporting landholder's efforts to preserve our rural and bush environments
- Address ongoing community concern for fire safety by ensuring council fully supports our CFA volunteers and by reviewing council's budget for Public Safety, Emergency Management and Risk and Roadside Management
- Not support Amendment C101 and ensure that any future review of the Environmental Overlays is accurate, factual and reflects the broader rural community's views and addresses their concerns
- Review the extent of decision making delegated to Council Officers
- Keep you informed of matters that could affect you - true community partnership
- Support local clubs and service organisations; their committed, hard working volunteers and the facilities and equipment they need
- Work with VicRoads to best manage traffic congestion and achieve the outcome the Warrandyte Community wants with respect the bridge proposal
- Preserve neighbourhood character - our 'village feel' lifestyle
- Redevelop the Research Park Sports Pavillion and access road
- Improve the Research Shopping Precinct
- Extend the Diamond Creek Shared Trail to Hurstbridge
- Work to keep Lot 1 Graysharps Road (former Hurstbridge High School site) in community ownership for future public purpose
- Provide adequate commuter parking at Hurstbridge Station
